How much does hardwood flooring cost installed?

From $2 per sq ft · installation labor

Installation from $2 per sq ft (labor). Materials are priced per collection at your visit, so the number you get is the final installed price. Minimum project 400 sq ft.

Priced per square foot at your in-home visit, with removal, leveling and baseboards included in one number. Wood species, plank construction, installation method and moisture-control needs influence the final quote. Refinishing is quoted separately according to the existing floor, sanding requirements, stain choice and finish system. We distinguish restoration work from new installation so the scope and expected result are clear before scheduling.

Most whole-house installs take 2–3 days. Our minimum project is 400 sq ft. Preparation, curing requirements or complex layouts may extend the schedule; we confirm the expected timeline during your in-home visit.

A complete, clearly defined installation

  • Removal of old flooring and haul-away when replacing
  • Subfloor inspection, moisture testing and leveling
  • Compatible underlayment or moisture-control system as specified
  • Solid or engineered hardwood installation and acclimation planning
  • New baseboards and transitions suited to adjoining floors
  • Jobsite cleanup and care guidance for the selected finish

We review the existing floor, moisture-control needs, doorway heights and furniture access before scheduling. Your written proposal identifies the chosen materials and preparation so the final installed price reflects your home, not a generic room.

Real wood, planned around Florida conditions

Engineered hardwood is often recommended for Florida humidity and slab homes because its layered construction offers greater dimensional stability than solid wood. It is still real wood and still needs controlled indoor conditions. Solid hardwood can be appropriate for suitable structures and installation systems; moisture conditions and the manufacturer’s requirements guide that decision.

Before installation, we plan acclimation, moisture testing and subfloor preparation. Acclimation is not simply leaving boxes for a fixed number of days: conditions and product instructions matter. For existing wood, refinishing may include sanding, staining and sealing. We inspect wear-layer thickness and previous sanding before recommending that route, especially with engineered products.

Hardwood flooring questions

Why recommend engineered hardwood in Florida?

Its layered construction generally moves less with humidity changes than solid hardwood. That can make it a practical choice for slab homes, provided moisture testing, the installation system and indoor climate meet the product requirements.

Can solid hardwood be installed over a concrete slab?

It depends on the product and the approved assembly. Some situations require a specialized subfloor or another installation method. We evaluate moisture and height constraints rather than treating direct installation over concrete as a universal option.

How long does hardwood acclimation take?

There is no single period that suits every product. We follow the manufacturer’s guidance and check site conditions and moisture readings. Acclimation and preparation can extend the overall schedule beyond the hands-on installation days.

Can you refinish my existing hardwood?

Yes, when the floor has sufficient usable wood and is in suitable condition. Refinishing can include sanding, staining and sealing. Some engineered floors have a thin wear layer and cannot safely be sanded again.

When can furniture return after refinishing?

That depends on the finish system and curing conditions. Walking, furniture placement and rugs may have different waiting periods. We provide finish-specific instructions so you do not damage the new surface by covering or loading it too soon.

How much does it cost?

Installation from $2 per sq ft (labor). Materials are priced per collection at your visit, so the number you get is the final installed price. Minimum project 400 sq ft.
